"Business-critical insights about our employees are an obvious investment"
Investing in employee engagement is the same as investing in the company. – When our employees feel good, the agency thrives, believes Make Your Mark. They have been using Simployer &frankly since the summer of 2021, and has chosen to test the 'Engagement Radar' feature over the past year.Measuring engagement is as obvious as measuring NPS
– We are not a large company, and many employees feel that using a pulse survey tool can seem impersonal. 'Why do we need a tool? Can't we just talk about it instead?' But measuring employee engagement feels just as obvious as measuring customer satisfaction," explains Jonathan Webb, Client Director at Make Your Mark.
– Not everyone is comfortable being transparent in a group, but in Simployer &frankly, individual responses are anonymous, and everyone has the opportunity to be heard. The tool is also research-based, which provides us with confidence because all questions and actions are grounded in best practices, Jonathan continues.
Evelina Stucki, CEO at Make Your Mark, agrees:
– We gain valuable insights into whether we have a challenge somewhere in the organisation. We measure monthly, allowing us to be proactive and act quickly on a downward trend before a problem grows large. We become more responsive to our employees' needs, and when they feel good, the agency thrives. It goes hand in hand.
"We can't wait 6 months to find out if our employees are doing well"

Who is Make Your Mark?
Make Your Mark is part of the Aller Media group. They are a creative and strategic communications agency with storytelling as their DNA. They work with organisations, authorities, and companies of various sizes; Pepsi, Klarna, and Vattenfall are just a few examples.
– The mix of different companies we work with is something our employees really appreciate. Working with a large well-known brand one day and a complex government task the next day expands competencies. It helps us both attract and retain our talents, says Jonathan.
– If you don't invest in a pulse survey tool, it is like closing your eyes to reality. Living in ignorance might work for a while, but in the long run, it is difficult to create engagement if you don't know what drives an engaged employee, says Jonathan.
– Simployer &frankly is there to support the dialogue, not replace it. As a leader, I don't always have time to talk as much with all employees as I would like. High engagement is crucial because employees are our business core and thus our most important resource. Having access to these continuous insights is therefore vital to our business. Without the people in the company, what are we, asks Evelina.
Business-critical survey that takes 2 minutes to complete
– The investment in employee engagement was obvious to us, especially considering the change journey we are going through. We realised the importance of involving employees in the change work, and here Simployer &frankly has been of great help, explains Jonathan.
– The 'Engagement Radar' feature has been an easy way for us to plan questions automatically based on the research-based framework. The result has helped us prioritise and focus on the right things both at the management and team level. Conducting an employee survey once or twice a year is not sustainable. Such results do not reflect reality, says Evelina.
– The survey also takes only 2 minutes to complete and not only provides important insights for us as an organisation, but it also shows that we as an employer listen to what our employees think and feel, which strengthens our corporate culture. One thing is certain – we can't wait 6 months to find out how our employees are doing, she continues.
Less stress and clearer direction
– When we reflect on the past year, we can see that we have moved forward in several important areas such as direction and well-being – two crucial parameters for us. The good thing is that we can clearly see that the efforts we initiate based on the results in &frankly actually have a direct effect on the organisation, says Evelina and continues:
– Something happens when the management team sits in front of a big screen and sees the clear result right in front of them. &frankly helps us put the cards on the table, talk about and prioritise what is most urgent right here and now.

Easy implementation and user-friendly
– My impression of &frankly has been good from the start. Besides the tool itself being very user-friendly, you at Simployer have always been easy to contact. This is greatly appreciated and has made the implementation of the tool easier and got both employees and leaders started in a good way, says Jonathan.
– We send a pulse survey once a month, which suits us well to discuss and act on the results. The tool provides concrete and usable suggestions for action based on the results, which makes it very effective, he adds.
Focus on well-being
– When we started measuring engagement with Simployer &frankly, we realised that well-being was an area we needed to focus on throughout the company. This insight led us to internally start the 'Well-being' project - inspired by one of the seven research-based drivers in the tool. Employees had the opportunity to share their ideas for changes to create a healthier workplace. First in the tool and then in a workshop, explains Jonathan.
– The feedback gave us input on several areas, from lack of ventilation to wishes to make the office more personal. Additionally, our union board held meetings with members to discuss well-being and how to promote it in the workplace. We simply translated the insights we gained into concrete actions, he continues.
What is your advice to others considering investing in employee engagement with Simployer &frankly?
– Just go for it, says Jonathan quickly. It is easier to get started than you think. Then just give it some time. Engagement is not a quick fix - stay the course and hold on, he concludes.
